the areas of Spirituality and Wellbeing. See Calendar
of Events 2010.
Pines of the Pine River
Saturday, 14 August, 9am-3.30pm. Bus excursion starting at St Vincent’s Centre, 125 Queen’s Road, Nudgee. Following on from our popular excursion to significant Pines in Brisbane, we are exploring the Pines around the river of the same name. Did you know the Australian Bunya Pine (Araucaria Bidwillii) appeared at the same ancient time as dinosaurs and was then found in other parts of the world? Did you know that it is only found in small parts of Queensland now and was sacred to the Aboriginal people? Did you know the Hoop Pine (A. Cunninghamii) is also an ancient tree of the genus Araucari. Do you know why the Hoop Pine has a distribution from the Macleay Valley, NSW to New Guinea? Do you know why this area was called the Pine River?
Join Ian Smith and Earth Link to explore the area from the Stringybark Pine (Callitris macleayana) at Mt Glorious to the Hoop Pine at the sea.

New Resources from Earth Link
A4 Booklet: Introduction to Ecospirituality. This booklet contains five essays which expand on the Principles on which Earth Link is based. Each essay is about 2-3 pages in length, so quite readable. Some of you may have read these principles in the Earth Song Journal, spread over five issues. Now they are all together in the one book. Price: $10 plus postage. Please phone or email to place your order.
DVD: There is a Season for Everything
This four disc DVD is a video of the weekend course conducted with ACU and based on the principles mentioned above. This DVD is for loan, and would be particularly useful for groups at a distance who are wanting to work through some basic tenets of ecospirituality. The fourth disc is audio only, and could be used in the car, or copied to a MP3 player. If you borrow the DVDs, you will need to purchase the booklet above, and borrow a few other resources that are protected by copyright.
